Accommodation in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland

accommodation sunshine coast hinterland

Belongs to our traditional landowners of the Jinibara peoples of the Gubbi Gubbi nation.

Scandi at Maleny, luxury accommodation in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland is situated at Booroobin, is an easy 1.5-hour drive from Brisbane yet far away from the rest of the world.

Maleny, recently voted the Most Welcoming Town in Australia 2022, on the Sunshine Coast (also voted 'Most Loved Destination in the World'), is known for its lush rainforests, picture-perfect dairy country, farm-to-table eateries, and all types of artisan boutiques lining its main street.

You'll encounter old-time hippies, salt-of-the-earth farmers, and newly arrived urban professionals in a place much-loved by long-time locals and visitors year-round. It's become a centre for eco-tourism and cooperative enterprises.

The area has replaced its timber-cutting and dairying past with tourism and people searching for an alternative lifestyle. Being on the Hinterland tourist drive, Maleny attracts day-trippers who have come to visit what the region has to offer.

Take on the Hinterland by car and discover nearby towns like Montville, Flaxton & Mapleton, quaint retail stores, coffee houses, restaurants, and scenic lookouts with sweeping views along the way. Places of geographical significance include the Glass House Mountains which are Magma Intrusions formed and matured underground more than 25 million years ago.

Visitors are asked not to climb these mountains out of respect for their sacred values; they are highly significant to local Traditional Owners, the Jinibara and Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) people; please consider this when visiting and view their brilliance from afar.

If you love nature walks and trails, you’ll find a vast range of well-established tracks to explore, including the well-known Hinterland Great Walk, all 58.8 km of it! Natural parks are abundant, and you can participate in shorter cooling waterfall circuits in Montville's Kondalilla National Park during a short stay.

If you're a foodie at heart, there are several options, with multiple vineyards, breweries, cheese-making cooperatives and hatted and non-hatted establishments. If self-love is in order, try a creative workshop or check yourself into several treatment salons in the area.

High in the Hinterland, Maleny is a place for plenty to do, or you can do nothing at all, just as a getaway should be.
